Day 1: Welcome to New Zealand!

You've arrived in New Zealand! The rental car company will be there waiting for you at the airport - once you've signed your rental contract, it's time to drive to your hotel in Christchurch. Once you've checked in, feel free to enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure

Christchurch is the largest city on the South Island of New Zealand and the seat of the Canterbury Region. Nicknamed the 'Garden City', here you can explore botanical gardens and beautiful green spaces inlcluding Hagley Park and Willowbank Wildlife Nature Park.

Day 2: French culture & Hector's dolphins

After an evening of rest, you'll drive 75km south-east of Christchurch to the end of the Banks Peninsula where you'll find the village of Akaroathe only attempted French settlement in New Zealand. To this day, it still retains an authentic French atmosphere with many streets holding French names, and descendants of the original settlers still living there.

Akaroa is also the only place in the world where you can encounter the Hector's dolphin, the world's smallest and rarest dolphin. Today, you have the opportunity to swim with them in their natural habitat, it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

After drying off, explore two award-winning and renowned vineyards where your guide will educate you on the history of the region whilst you sample regional wines and cheeses.

Day 3: Marine adventure

Fill up at breakfast, then get ready for a scenic drive of under three hours to Kaikoura, a beautiful coastal town known for its abundant marine wildlife

Here, you'll embark on an ocean adventure to witness the majestic presence of whales and dolphins. With sperm whales calling these waters home throughout the year, your chances of encountering these magnificent creatures are notably high.

Savor one more delightful day in Kaikoura. For a unique wildlife encounter, embark on the seal observation adventure. A walk to the end of the peninsula promises spectacular views, but remember to respect safety guidelines and animal habitats by not crossing protective barriers.

Hike Mt Fyffe for breathtaking views, or indulge in ornithology to observe the region's diverse birdlife, including majestic albatrosses. Embrace Kaikoura's tranquility and natural wonders on your final day here.

Jump behind the wheel again and drive to Abel Tasman National Park, the smallest national park in the country, renowned for its golden beaches, sculptured granite cliffs, and world-famous coast track.

Following a long drive, indulge in a leisurely afternoon on one of the numerous sandy beaches. Bask in the serene coastal atmosphere until sunset, when the sky transforms with vibrant shades of orange and pink. Later, retreat to your accommodation for a tranquil night's rest.

You have another day to enjoy Abel Tasman National Park. Embark on a day filled with adventure as you rent a sea kayak to explore the captivating Tasman Bay. This exciting activity promises to unveil the park's hidden corners, providing a chance to spot charming fur seals along the way.

Later, join a scenic cruise aboard a catamaran, where you can actively participate in maneuvering the boat with the crew. Witness the iconic Split Apple Rock, a fascinating formation resembling an apple split in two, situated in the midst of the sea. A lunch break on the picturesque Anchorage Beach is planned, allowing time for a refreshing swim in the crystalline waters.

Day 7: Drive to Paparoa National Park

It's time for another scenic drive today, as you take a journey of under five hours to Punakaiki, a village best known for Paparoa National Park where you can explore the Pancake Rocks, Punakaiki Cavern and many blowholes.

Stroll along the beach situated to the right of the Pancake Rocks, and you might be treated to the delightful sight of little blue penguins. The optimal time for this enchanting experience is during the evening when these charming creatures return home after a day of fishing.

Day 8: Glacier exploration

It's time for something different: today, get ready to explore the glaciers of New Zealand's West Coast. Day 9: Outdoor activities in Queenstown

The hustle and bustle of Queenstown awaits! Born in the 1860s from the Gold Rush, today it's the world capital of adrenaline and outdoor activities.

Highlights of this area include visiting the filming locations of the famous Lord of the Rings saga, and taking a short cruise aboard a steamboat on Lake Wakatipu. Those looking for an adrenaline-filled activity should try bungee-jumping from Kawarau Bridge, 43m above the river below.

Mt Cook - Christchurch

Day 15: Final New Zealand exploration

It's your last full day in New Zealand. After breakfast, spend the morning and early afternoon driving back to Christchurch. Check into your hotel, and take the rest of the day exploring what you missed at the beginning of your trip, including the International Antarctic Center, where you can discover little blue penguins and huskies, whilst also having the opportunity to face a southern storm.
